This is a 12-month position. JOB SUMMARY: The IT Specialist will provide comprehensive technology support across the Woodbridge School District, serving K-12 schools, administrative offices, faculty, and staff. This position ensures the effective operation, maintenance, and security of the district's hardware, software, and network infrastructure. The specialist will assist in troubleshooting technology issues, supporting instructional technology integration, and maintaining district-wide technology systems in alignment with the district's educational goals. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or experience preferred (Bachelor's degree desired)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support, preferably in an educational or public sector environment
  • Proficiency with Windows and macOS operating systems, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365, and mobile device management (MDM) (Windows Server, Vmware, Cisco Meraki desired)
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, wireless networking, and VPN
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced K-12 school environment
  • Experience with school information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus)
  • Familiarity with instructional technology tools used in classrooms (e.g., Promethean boards, Chromebooks)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications desired
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical support for end-users including staff, faculty, and students
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, tablets, printers, and other devices
  • Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of the district's network infrastructure, servers, and backup systems
  • Document issues and resolutions through the district's helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Support wireless access points and internet connectivity at all school sites
  • Assist with security and patch updates for district devices and systems
  • Support the integration of educational technology into classroom instruction
  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom tools such as projectors, interactive panels, document cameras, and audio systems
  • Work closely with educators to ensure technology supports teaching and learning goals
  • Maintain accurate records of technology assets, including inventory tracking and lifecycle management
  • Assist in the deployment and collection of student and staff devices
  • Collaborate with district IT team members and instructional staff to improve technology use and efficiency
  • Stay updated on trends and best practices in K-12 educational technology
  • Provide training and documentation to users on technology tools and best practices
  • Assist with setup and support of online testing platforms and digital assessments
  • Support district initiatives involving cybersecurity and digital citizenship
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Support and manage user accounts through Active Directory, Google Workspace for Education, and other district platforms.
Work Environment:
  • Primarily in school buildings and district office locations.
  • May involve occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds (equipment, servers, etc.).
  • Travel between schools within the district may be required.
