Experience:

    • Knowledge of SQL based on completed training courses or college classes;
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with SQL
    • Experience supporting computer application programs;
    • Experience as a project team member with experience in project design;
    • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Experience supporting Student/Business Information Systems

Skills and Knowledge:
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and equipment maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • REASONING: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Function Writes complex database queries to perform data analysis and database integration using SQL or other database tools. Conducts analysis, evaluation, design, modification, testing and implementation of code in support of new and existing enterprise-wide systems for the District. Performs application integration, SQL programming, maintenance, technical support, documentation and administration of the applications. Analyzes and develops a comprehensive understanding of state laws, state data standards and district policies, procedures and business rules as they pertain to school districts data reporting and data management to ensure all SQL code, software configurations, data integrations and reports are accurately implemented. Works independently and with teams on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Maintains, develops and implements application security policies and procedures. Regularly monitors security compliance within assigned applications and prepares status reports on security matters. Reviews and enforces CCISD Policies and Procedures. Reports To: Senior Programmer/Analyst Responsibilities:
  • Write SQL code, validate and document complex SQL queries, stored procedures and SQL Server Integration Services workflow tasks
  • Tests all code written and makes any corrective changes to code logic and syntax before use in production environment
  • Develops Cognos Reports and/or uses other report tools used by the district
  • Develops Laserfiche workflows and online web forms
  • Analyzes, reviews, optimizes and alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Analyzes existing systems and programs and develops or recommends new systems or modifications to existing systems.
  • Analyzes and develops a comprehensive understanding of state laws, state data standards and district policies, procedures and business rules as they pertain to school districts data reporting and data management to ensure all SQL code, software configurations, data integrations and reports are accurately implemented
  • Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, interfaces with other systems and ensures work product is accurate and operates as intended
  • Reviews and analyzes system specifications to determine whether all required elements have been included.
  • Consults with administrators and other departments to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements and determines how the desired results can be achieved.
  • Compares requirements to existing systems before recommending modifications or new applications.
  • Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program
  • Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
  • Assists users to solve operating problems.
  • Recreates steps taken by user to locate source of problem and rewrites program to correct errors.
  • Provides appropriate technical documentation.
  • Monitor performance of program after implementation.
  • Streamline and automate system processes to minimize duplication of data entry by users.
  • Develops programs to interface with 3rd party software.
  • Cross train to support and develop SQL, integration services, reports, Laserfiche web forms and workflows in support of both the Student and Business Information Systems.
  • Conduct periodic security audits on all applications used by the District.
  • Willing to perform software maintenance activities and software upgrades during non-scheduled working hours.
  • Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to stay informed on best practices in developing programs that effectively address user requirements and contribute to the school district's educational goals and administrative efficiency.
