Description Albion College invites applications for the Area Coordinator position. The Area Coordinator (AC) is responsible for enhancing a comprehensive student development program within a residential campus consistent with the mission and goals of Albion College, the Division of Student Development, and the Office of Community Living. The AC provides support and leadership to residential students. In addition, this staff member is responsible for a particular residential area of campus, and assumes joint responsibility with the entire Community Living Office for the administration and quality of the entire community living experience. The AC must appreciate and support the liberal arts philosophy and education. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality. The AC must contribute to a campus climate that emphasizes a commitment to working with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures and backgrounds. The AC assists with coordinating and overseeing projects assigned by the Director of Community Living and Student Conduct. Such areas of responsibility may include Community Assistant and Senior CommunityAssistant (CA/SCA) training (Fall, Spring, and various in-service training opportunities), (CA/SCA) recruitment, selection, placement, a monthly CA newsletter, and departmental wide projects and events. Standard hours include 40 hours per week during normal business hours in a professional office setting with evening and weekend work required; on-call includes weekends, evenings, breaks, and holidays. This is a live in-campus position, requiring the staff member to reside in an apartment provided by the College in a residence hall and includes the expectation of eating in our Dining Centers to promote community development for our students. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree in college student personnel or a related field is strongly preferred
- Previous supervision, training, and residence hall live-in experience required
- Experience in student advising, community development, educational programming, and student leadership development
