Job Description :
Are you an electrician savvy in electronics with experience working on electronically controlled instrumentation systems, life safety equipment, lighting circuits, electrical fire alarm systems, high voltage power systems, and mechanical equipment? Pinellas County's STAR Center has the perfect job opportunity for you! This is advanced technical field work in the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electronic and electrical systems, wiring, electronic control devices, lift station motor controls equipment, fire alarm systems, and mechanical control systems. This position is responsible for complex electronically controlled instrumentation systems. However, other advanced responsibility for electrical power systems, lighting, and mechanical assignments may be included with this work; performs specialized work operating and troubleshooting assigned equipment. This Electronics Specialist 1 position is located at: STAR Center Facility, 7887 Bryan Dairy Road, Suite 120, Largo, FL 33777. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. - -3:30 p.m. Additional: standby and emergency response requirementsWhat Will You Do?
  • Perform installation, maintenance, modification, calibration and repair of electronic and electrical instrumentation, equipment and control systems.
  • Install and maintain digital based surveillance of video recording systems, digital display boards, Uninterruptible Power Systems and maintenance of their battery storage systems.
  • Lead responsibility for maintaining site's wastewater neutralization plant, data collection and reporting, as well as instrument calibration of chart recorder and analyzers.
  • Detects causes of electronic and electrical failures, interprets and ensures compliance with established codes, calculates data necessary for wiring instrument systems and requisition supplies and mate3rials needed to complete tasks.
  • Train other skill personnel in all phases of a variety of electronic instrumentation, equipment and control systems, provides technical advice and assistance,
  • Inspects instrumentation and equipment to determine operating conditions, needed repairs and modifications and performs bench work repairs and/or overhauls and rebuilds electronic equipment.
  • Perform diagnostics and testing of backup power generating systems, equipment and performs tests on parts, modules, or assemblies,
  • Prepare sketches, preliminary or work plans for establishment or modification of electrical systems.
  • May perform low voltage tasks.
  • Perform related work as assigned or required.
What Do You Need?Experience: Highly automated computer-based electronics instrumentation installation, maintenance, and repair experience (in one or more of the following: life safety, digital fire suppression system, sprinkler systems, digital alarm system, digital and IP-based Security and card access systems, IP-based digital based surveillance, digital video recording systems, uninterrupted Power Systems and maintenance of such systems and their battery storage systems). Education: Degree or two-year technical degree in directly related coursework (Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronic Technology).
  • 3 years of experience as described above.
  • Associate's degree as described above, and at least 1 year of experience as described above.
  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree as described above.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) driving report.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Must be able to communicate in both written and oral forms of English.
  • Must be able to work off of ladders, lifts, bucket trucks, and at times in close spaces such as closets, basements and chases.
  • Dependability, Job Knowledge, and Communications are essential qualification to the success of this position.
Highly Desirable
  • Knowledge of Siemens MXL Fire Alarm System FACP's Tracer ES and waste water neutralization instrument calibration.
