Job Type Job Type Full-time Campus Unionized Position Code Not Applicable Job Description Administers the integration of the IT infrastructure and provides direction and engineering of IT architecture. Based on overall enterprise plans, proposes solutions, architecture, and integration for all infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure solutions. Designs information systems using industry best practices and following all applicable standards, especially in the areas of security and integration. Leads, manages, and trains others during large-scale project implementations. Provides leadership and guidance to three IT personnel. Possesses in-depth knowledge of operating systems, cloud computing technologies, enterprise storage backup technologies, programming/scripting languages, enterprise hardware, and time series databases. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of experience in computing technology or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience in integration of on-premises and cloud-based computing infrastructures. Skills and Knowledge Scripting/Programming languages (PowerShell/C# preferred). Knowledge of GRAPH / REST APIs. Understanding of datacenter network technologies including LACP , load balancing and SDN . Hands on experience system administration of Windows/Linux distributions, storage, virtualization, information security technologies, data center and network infrastructure. Knowledge of type 1 hypervisors and related enterprise features (VMware/Hyper-V preferred) and/or cloud infrastructure technologies. Enterprise data protection methods (NetApp platform technologies preferred, e.g., SnapMirror and SnapVault). SAN technologies including multi-pathing, replication, snapshots, and fiber channel/ NFS (NetApp storage experience a plus). Demonstrated experience conducting root cause analysis. SAML /OAuth/OpenID Connector identity integration providers. Multi-Factor Authentication technologies (Microsoft MFA / SSO preferred). Knowledge of information security best practices. Experience with enterprise scaled solutions. Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting server hardware. Responsibilities Propose, engineer, integrate, and automate the IT virtual and storage infrastructure. Provide critical university-wide infrastructure services that require expertise in architecting, automating, and maintaining computing infrastructure. Collaborate with team members on deploying new hardware and decommissioning existing hardware to ensure supportability, uptime, and capacity. Propose, engineer, integrate, and automate the backup and disaster recovery environment. Coordinate the off siting of University data with a tertiary datacenter to ensure resilience and prevent data loss in a recovery scenario. Perform regular backup audits and take appropriate actions to guarantee successful protection for all systems. Provide technical leadership and guidance of three IT personnel within the CIS Infrastructure team. Develop procedures and document the virtual, backup, and disaster recovery environments. Provide technical advice and direction to IT professionals across campus. Independently develop and maintain automation to enhance security, efficiency, and consistency. Implement custom reporting and monitoring to ensure environment security, stability, and sustainability. Provide support for the development, maintenance, and reliable operation of the University's research computing environment, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of faculty, researchers, and academic projects.
