Demonstrates competence in respiratory skills, problem solving, and critical thinking. Performs respiratory skills within the scope of the Respiratory Therapy Practice Act. Delivers respiratory care activities as ordered by a licensed healthcare professional to patients in various units. Performs life-sustaining interventions during emergent situations. Responds to emergencies and serves as the primary airway manager. Initiates and manages mechanical ventilation and delivers aerosolized medication. Administers specialty medical gases and assesses patient responses to therapy. Tracks and documents interventions in accordance with regulatory requirements. Rounds with the interdisciplinary team in critical care settings.
