Since launching in 2019, we've delivered care to over 100,000 patients across New York, Washington DC, Boston, Atlanta, and Nashville. With thousands of five-star reviews and over 650 passionate team members, Tend is one of the fastest-growing and highest-rated dental brands in the country - and we're just getting started. Whether you're delivering care in our studios or supporting our growth behind the scenes, every role at Tend contributes to reimagining the future of dental health - for patients and for the people who care for them. We're growing fast - and we're looking for values-driven, mission-aligned talent to grow with us. We're looking for a hands-on, experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team and support our rapidly growing studio operations. You'll work closely with our studio leadership teams to ensure that our people strategies support business goals and help foster a workplace where all team members thrive. This role is focused on the day-to-day HR operations, coaching, and performance management in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment. As an HRBP at Tend, you'll be directly supporting the Studio Managers and teams across 6 states and 30+ studios (and growing). Your primary responsibility will be to provide practical, on-the-ground HR support, offering guidance on employee relations, performance management, and overall team development. You will coach and develop managers, ensuring they are equipped to address employee concerns, drive performance, and create an engaging and productive workplace culture. This role will work a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week in our New York studios and/or corporate office and travel up to 30% to Tend hubs in Nashville, Boston, DC/Northern VA, and Atlanta. What You'll Do:
- HR Support & Coaching: Partner closely with Studio Managers to provide hands-on support around employee relations and performance management. Act as a trusted advisor for managers on addressing performance issues, coaching on leadership best practices, and guiding them through conflict resolution.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the go-to resource for employee relations, helping managers handle sensitive issues with clarity and empathy. Guide managers through investigations, conflict resolution, and day-to-day employee concerns.
- Performance Management: Coach Studio Managers on how to set clear goals, provide feedback, and hold their teams accountable. Support managers in conducting performance reviews and creating development plans to drive individual and team success.
- Talent Development: Work with Studio Managers to identify opportunities for talent growth and close skill gaps. Support the development of high-performing teams through training, ongoing feedback, and leadership development initiatives.
- Employee Engagement: Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement employee engagement strategies based on feedback and team dynamics. Focus on building a positive work environment that promotes team morale and fosters a sense of belonging.
- Onboarding & Training: Lead efforts to deliver a smooth onboarding experience for new hires, ensuring they are set up for success. Work with Studio Managers to implement training programs and foster continuous development within the teams.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all HR practices adhere to legal requirements and industry standards. Stay up-to-date on local labor laws and compliance regulations, and provide guidance to leadership on best practices for managing teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and programs to better support the studio teams. Help develop and implement strategies that streamline HR operations and improve overall efficiency.
What You Have:
- 3-5 years of recent experience as an HR Business Partner within a fast-paced, multi-unit operation (retail and/or service-based environments).
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration/Management, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience managing employee relations, coaching field leaders, and supporting performance management in a multi-unit retail setting.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, especially in employee relations, performance management, and team development.
- Ability to influence and support leaders at all levels to drive performance and create a positive work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive topics with care and professionalism.
