Title: EHS Manager Location: Syracuse, NY Job Type: FTE/Permanent Position Summary: The EHS Manager will provide leadership and oversight of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) functions across plant operations and related headquarters. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs, policies, procedures, and systems to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with internal standards. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the establishment and achievement of EHS goals and objectives in alignment with broader strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate EHS performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify critical EHS hazards and coordinate with leadership to implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
  • Assign EHS program element leaders and support their involvement in maintaining and improving respective EHS systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete annual compliance evaluations with relevant EHS regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote a culture of zero incidents through behavior-based safety initiatives, active employee involvement, and regular safety activities (e.g., GEMBA walks, safety committees).
  • Serve as the site liaison for external inspections related to EHS and maintain compliance with all relevant environmental permits.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and conduct routine drills to assess readiness.
  • Manage and track EHS training requirements, ensuring timely completion across all roles.
  • Oversee the EHS budget, including capital improvements and project management related to EHS enhancements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in EHS within a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a leadership or management role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental sciences, or related field.
  • Five (5) years' experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in foundry operations.
  • Prior involvement in EHS compliance audits.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
