Position Title: Student Support Assistant FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt, academic-year (10-month) position Reports To: Learning Resource Specialist Hours: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Summary: The student support assistant serves the Primary and Elementary students at Post Oak by providing additional classroom and program support for the children's development in the Montessori environment through one-on-one and small group activities, observations, and administering screenings, during the school day. The student support assistant is a full-time position providing floating support for students ages 4 through 12. This role includes:
- Modeling a positive regard for the children, their work, and their dignity
- Observing student growth and development in the Montessori environment
- Guiding, assessing, and tutoring students as directed by the Learning Resource Specialist.
- Engaging in collaboration with faculty and staff
- Supporting all school policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Montessori training or experience working in a Montessori environment
- Experience working with students who need additional resources beyond a classroom setting
- Understanding of differentiated instructional strategies
- Knowledge of learning differences and conditions such as ADHD and ASD
- Commitment to the goals of Montessori education
- An enthusiastic, flexible, and passionate learner
- Experience working with early childhood and elementary-aged children
- The ability to create learning activities that engage students
