Job Title: Safety Manager Location: Mount Bethel, PA Start Date: ASAP Type: 1099 Contractor

Intro: Since 1963, Sheakley has been a trusted leader in safety management across industrial, construction, and high-risk environments. We are hiring a Safety Manager for a 4-month contract supporting a chemical manufacturing facility in Mount Bethel, PA. This role is ideal for safety professionals experienced in excavation, confined space entry, and multi-trade construction safety.

The Safety Manager will oversee site safety performance across two buildings with active construction underway, including exterior wall installation and LN2 pad construction. Interior work will involve HVAC, structural steel, and electrical scopes. This role requires a proactive, boots-on-the-ground leader who can enforce safety protocols, lead toolbox talks, and drive daily compliance.

Compensation: 💲 Rate: $50-$52/hour (based on experience) 🍽 Per Diem: $125/day (if applicable) 💸 Pay Frequency: Weekly

Schedule: 🕒 Hours: 40 hours/week 📅 Schedule: Monday-Friday

Project Scope: This project involves active chemical facility construction, with work including:

  • Exterior wall and LN2 pad installation

  • Interior trades: HVAC, electrical, and structural steel

  • Oversight of multiple subcontractors

  • Daily toolbox talks and safety meetings

  • Completion of daily safety reports and documentation

  • Enforcement of site-specific and OSHA 1926 safety standards

Qualifications: ✅ OSHA 30 (Required) ✅ Confined Space Experience (Required) ✅ Excavation Safety Experience (Required) ✅ HVAC, Electrical, and Steel Safety Familiarity (Preferred) ✅ Strong communication and hazard identification skills ✅ Must be dependable, self-directed, and field-ready

Additional Requirements: ✅ Must be able to pass background check and drug screening ✅ Reliable transportation to jobsite ✅ Ability to work independently and interface with project teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct jobsite safety inspections and submit reports

  • Lead daily job hazard assessments and toolbox talks

  • Enforce confined space and excavation protocols

  • Monitor trade partner compliance and coordinate with site leadership

  • Track and document corrective actions

  • Support a culture of zero incidents and proactive risk mitigation

Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of OSHA 1926 Subparts applicable to general construction and chemical facility safety, with emphasis on Subparts C, D, E, K, M, and P. Demonstrated ability to lead safety in environments involving multiple trades and evolving site conditions.
