Position Summary The Technical Trainer is responsible for delivering expert-level training on oil and gas burners, combustion systems, and associated controls and components. This role is critical to R.W. Beckett's mission of empowering technicians, distributors, OEMs, and internal teams with the knowledge and confidence to install, maintain, and troubleshoot our industry-leading systems. Training is primarily conducted through in-person, hands-on instruction at our state-of-the-art Training Center in Sturbridge, MA. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled combustion technician and an engaging instructor, fluent in delivering content through multiple modalities-including PowerPoint-based sessions, live webinars, and hybrid learning environments. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on training sessions on Beckett burners and related system components, with a strong emphasis on oil and gas-fired equipment.
- Facilitate both in-person and virtual training events for contractors, wholesalers, OEMs, and internal staff.
- Develop and deliver high-quality instructional materials using Microsoft PowerPoint, webinar platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams), and Beckett-branded templates.
- Assist in developing new training modules, certifications, and course enhancements in coordination with Product Management and Engineering.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and systems within the Beckett Training Center to ensure optimal readiness and safety.
- Serve as a technical resource and ambassador of the Beckett brand in the field and at industry events or trade shows as required.
- Provide backup support for Technical Service inquiries, assisting with troubleshooting guidance, application support, and system diagnostics as needed.
- Gather feedback and continuously improve training effectiveness based on participant assessments and evolving product features.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies in HVAC and combustion controls (e.g., Wi-Fi diagnostics, remote monitoring), industry codes, combustion technologies, and best practices to ensure content relevance.
Qualifications/Experience
- 5+ years' experience with oil and gas combustion systems, including installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Beckett burners and control systems is highly desirable.
- Experience delivering or supporting training in commercial burner or hydronic boiler applications is a strong plus.
- Familiar with multiple HVAC system applications (heating systems, hydronics, warm air) and process heating systems (bakery ovens, mobile equipment, etc.).
- Proven experience in technical instruction, preferably within the HVAC, combustion, and/or controls industry.
- Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint (including content creation) and webinar delivery platforms.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking to groups in live, webinar, and recorded formats.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus, though not required.
Education - Associate's degree preferred Licenses & Certifications - EPA Certification or NORA Gold/Silver preferred. Work Environment & Travel
- Based at the Beckett Training Center in Sturbridge, MA.
- Travel required up to 25%, primarily for off-site training, trade shows, or regional support.
