This professional position involves evaluating, planning, and providing physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with written prescriptions from qualified providers. In cases of Direct Access, the physical therapist will evaluate, plan, and provide treatment within the guidelines set forth regarding Direct Access. The role may include supervision over the work of Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, and clerical employees assigned to the service. The Physical Therapist will perform evaluations and treatments using safe, evidence-based techniques across various age groups. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform physical therapy evaluations and treatments for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Develop and implement new and revised physical therapy care programs, including discharge plans.
- Conduct screenings to determine the need for further examination or referrals to other healthcare professionals within the network.
- Collaborate with other personnel to formulate the best possible patient care.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of all physical therapy evaluations, progress notes, care plans, treatment notes, consultation, and discharge summaries.
- Assist in the development of physical therapy policies and procedures.
- Initiate wellness and injury prevention education within the facility and the community at large.
QualificationsEducation:
- Master's Degree in Physical Therapy (Preferred).
- Combination of Bachelor's Degree and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Physical Therapy Experience: 1-2 Years (Required).
- Good knowledge of anatomy and physiology, neurology, and socioeconomic factors affecting a patient's disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer skills relevant to electronic records, charting, and auditing.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licensed and currently registered by the NYS Education Department as a Physical Therapist (Required).
- BLS/CPR Certification.
