Collector– South Burlington, VT:Vermont Federal Credit Union is recruiting for a Collector out of our South Burlington Operations Center.Hourly Range: $21.61 to $32.42Job Description:
- Cross Train on Collections Administrative tasks, which includes working repossession accounts with vendors, preparing communications for Small Claims proceedings, etc.
- Work with our members regarding outstanding delinquent loans always striving to maintain a positive relationship. This includes written correspondence and phone calls.
- Follow up and monitor payment commitments on past due loans.
- Recommend action on delinquent accounts where the collection process needs to be accelerated.
- Handle member accounts that have payment discrepancies, insurance claims and deficiency balances.
- Document communication in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) and ensure collection activity is always within Credit Union policy and legal regulations.
Requirements:
- One year to three years of similar or related experience
- Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekend hours
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Collection on real estate loans with an understanding of bankruptcy and foreclosure process a plus.
