The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing current and past financial data and performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable recommendations to drive improvement. In this position, the analyst will support financial planning, budgeting, and analysis across multiple divisions, collaborating closely with Ultramar, NLI's business units, and subsidiaries. The analyst will assess revenues and expenditures to establish and optimize cost structures and capital budgeting for projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and alongside senior leadership (CEOs, CFOs, and other executives) to shape company-wide investment strategies and policies. By leveraging analytics and fostering vendor relationships, this role will ensure the effective execution of service strategies to support the company's growth objectives. Other duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform strategic M&A and investment analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution assessments.
- Analyze monthly P&L reports, financial processes, systems, and procedures for accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead projects, prioritize multiple assignments, and excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Analyze existing systems and processes to recommend and implement improvements.
- Foster external partnerships and contract negotiations with prospective partners.
- Research, gather and disseminate competitive intelligence to assess the market.
- Collaborate with appropriate staff to gather input and feedback concerning system needs.
- Analyze current and past financial data and performance.
- Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement and the ability to implement corrections.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to executive leadership, committees, board meetings and other stakeholders.
- Assist in exploring investment opportunities.
- Gather, document, and analyze business requirements to support decision-making.
- Evaluate current capital expenditures and depreciation.
- Coordinate with teams cross-functionally to review financial information and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to track key performance metrics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable insights.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and risks.
- Work with large datasets to extract meaningful insights and drive process improvements.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by validating and cleaning data sources.
- Support strategic initiatives by providing data-driven recommendations.
- Assist in automating reports and streamlining data collection processes.
- Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
- Present findings and reports to leadership teams, translating data into actionable insights.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, information systems, computers, business administration, or another related field required. Master's degree is considered a plus.
- Three (3) years of professional work experience in business analysis/ financial analysis or related degree or a combination of experience and higher education preferred.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Products, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using EPM/consolidation software, ERP systems, and business analytics tools considered a plus.
- Experience with Power BI Desktop and a moderate understanding of data structuring, relational data building, visual creation, and data interpretation highly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of project and process management.
- Strong analytical skills with strategic thinking and excellent relationship development skills to identify & execute M&A and joint venture projects successfully.
- Strong financial modeling skills include discounted cash flow valuation, forecasting and accretion/dilution analysis.
- Deep understanding of accounting concepts related to P&L and balance sheets.
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing standards.
- Ability to liaise with middle and upper NLI management for scope negotiation in a manner that upholds NLI values.
- Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people at all levels of the organization and across the globe. Genuine with high ethical standards and values and personal integrity and honesty.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling proprietary and confidential information.
- Must be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team simultaneously on multiple projects.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Must be willing and able to travel regionally and internationally as required (Passport required).
- Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
