We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Mathnasium team as a Math Learning Center Assistant! If you love math, events, enjoy working with students, and want to make learning fun, this role is for you. The ideal candidate will not only provide exceptional math instruction but also help foster a vibrant learning environment by engaging students through in-center events, school outreach, and help us create fun for social media. Check out our social channels. This includes announcing our monthly raffle winners, helping with game nights, and actively supporting our center's community. You'll receive 3-6+ months of training and mentorship in both instruction and operations. Ideal candidates are coachable, committed, enthusiastic about student engagement, and ready to work as part of a team to help students think, not just memorize. - Student Management: manage students during their time in the center.
- Event Participation: Help plan and lead engaging math-related events, including game nights and community outreach at schools.
- Deliver Instruction: Instruct students in-center, online, and in hybrid formats using the Mathnasium Method, terminology, and teaching practices.
- Digital Proficiency: Use a stylus and tablet for instruction and navigate digital learning tools effectively.
- Collaboration: Work as part of a team to provide individualized instruction and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Math Enthusiast: Strong knowledge of math up to Algebra.
- Availability: Must be available 2 to 3x a week, with additional opportunities in the summer.
- Event & Social Engagement: Willingness to participate in center events, and school outreach.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage tasks effectively and help keep the center running smoothly.
- Eagerness to Learn: Open to training and professional growth in both instruction and center operations.
- Compliance: Must pass a math literacy test, provide work authorization, and pass a background check.
Interview Process
- Initial 15 - 30 minutes phone interview based on the job description
- Math Test from basics up to Algebra - 1.5 hours
- Trial session with up to three students on math instruction
- Official in-person interview for one hour with written questions
Several visits to the center are required. This Role Might Not Be the Best Fit If:
- You're only available for a single semester and not looking for a longer-term opportunity
- You prefer one-on-one tutoring over working within a structured, group-based curriculum
- You're not open to learning and using a specific method of math instruction
- You're not the high-five type-we love celebrating wins, big and small!
- You're uncomfortable projecting your voice so students can clearly hear and engage with you
- You're not a fan of fun, energy, and a little bit of silliness-because we believe learning should be joyful!
