Position Summary: The Physical Therapist is responsible for organizing and implementing a comprehensive physical therapy program for students with disabilities, in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role supports students' educational participation by addressing physical access, mobility, and motor function needs that impact school functioning. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Design and implement physical therapy programs consistent with district and IEP goals. • Conduct individualized assessments to identify student needs and functional limitations. • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment and care plans. • Deliver direct therapy services and consultative support to students individually or in groups. • Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, and families. • Support classroom integration by providing strategies and resources to educators. • Design adaptive equipment or modifications to improve physical access and mobility. • Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility evaluations, and student support team discussions. • Provide parent education and strategies for use at home. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress reports and evaluations. • Liaise with physicians and community agencies as appropriate. • Provide professional development to school staff on physical therapy services and inclusive practices. • Stay current with best practices and licensure requirements through ongoing professional learning. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of motor development, orthopedic impairments, and physical access accommodations. • Familiarity with IEP processes, special education law, and disability-related supports in schools. • Strong assessment and documentation skills. • Ability to design and implement therapy sessions aligned with educational goals. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.t • Proficiency in using assistive devices and adaptive equipment. • Capacity to train staff in mobility supports and physical accommodations. • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload across multiple schools. Qualifications & Requirements: • Bachelor's degree required • Valid Massachusetts license as a Physical Therapist (Board of Allied Health Professionals). • Experience working with school-aged children or in pediatric physical therapy is preferred. • Graduate coursework beyond the bachelor's degree preferred. • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
