SUPERVISOR OF INFECTION PREVENTION JOB SUMMARY: The Supervisor of Infection Prevention (SIP) is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and quality management and coordination of the Healthcare System's Infection Prevention Program including but not limited to Surveillance and prevention activities, data collection, analysis, and trending, education of staff, and being a key resource for all departments and services regarding Infection Control and prevention. Is accountable for, and will ensure adherence to infection control standards, policies, and procedures. Will work collaboratively with the Medical Staff and Employee Health Services. Achievement and possession of a current Board Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) is highly preferred at the time of hire, and throughout employment as a reflection of successful completion of verified competency through a combination of education, and written examination. Supervisor, Infection Prevention Recent Joint Commission - no findings Salary range: $131,476 - $173,888 Current California nurse's license Current CIC or proof of competency equivalent Benefits: relocation, sign-on bonus, 1st year up to 29 days PTO PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS AND TASKS Essential Function 1. The SIP will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and will work with and receive the necessary support from personnel as needed. 2. The SIP will collaborate with all hospital personnel, medical staff, and others who work on behalf of this organization and utilize appropriate epidemiological methods to increase the likelihood of achieving desired infection prevention outcomes. 3. Duties will include, but are not limited to coordinating infection surveillance, education, administrative, and control measures to ensure that the transmission risks and complications of infections and infectious diseases are minimized to hospital clients, personnel, and visitors. 4. In this role, the SIP will be required to manage and maintain responsibilities including the roles of statistician, educator, consultant, improvement coordinator, and evaluator of practice. The SIP will be conversant with the infection hazards of all patient care services to be able to recommend and evaluate the effect of prevention strategies. 5. With the emphasis on improvement and publicly reported data, the SIP will possess a heightened ability to provide statistical analysis of data, be knowledgeable regarding the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) data management and evaluate and implement prevention strategies. 6. Will be a key player in planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and revision of Infection Prevention and Control Program goals, standards, policies, and procedures. 7. As required, report communicable diseases and supporting laboratory data to the local, state, and national health departments. 8. Facilitates meeting applicable regulatory requirements through monitoring and reporting infection trends. 9. Participates in epidemiological investigations of significant clusters of infection above established standards and of unusual isolates. 10. Interact with Employee/Occupational Health (if applicable) to institute and maintain control measures about healthcare work exposures. 11. Provides in-service education (departmental, general orientation, annual review, and as needed). 12. Monitor the Infection Prevention Department's compliance with California Department of Public Health regulations and 13. accreditation standards. Make recommendations for change and follow up to ensure compliance. 14. Investigate and follow up on all MMHS staff who have an infectious disease. 15. Develop and implement a mechanism whereby all staff who have an infectious disease are monitored. 16. Other duties as assigned.
