SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Radiation Therapy Manager provides clinical and administrative leadership to ensure safe and efficient radiation delivery in an outpatient clinic to patients in a caring and patient-focused environment. The Radiation Therapy Manager is responsible for managing, mentoring, scheduling, and developing a team of therapists to work closely with physicians and other clinical and operations staff to provide a high level of quality care. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of therapists to provide daily clinical operations and treatment delivery to patients safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Manage the radiation therapist team member work schedules and time off requests to assure appropriate coverage and productivity for the center's activities and procedures.
  • Review and approve radiation therapist team member timesheets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Schedule patients to assure efficient operations in an outpatient clinic.
  • Ensure the appropriate professional credentialing and training for radiation therapists are maintained.
  • Oversee and document the selection, training, orientation, and competency assessment of team members.
  • Manage the simulation and treatment room supply inventory.
  • Develop and assist in the compliance and documentation process required for appropriate accreditation agency(s) (APEx, ACR).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings with clinical and operations team.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive chart rounds/peer review program.
  • Work collaboratively with clinic and operations staff.
  • Support team members in their understanding, acceptance, and commitment to the organization's mission, goals/objectives, and policies/procedures.
  • Arrange, conduct, and document regular radiation therapist team meetings assuring ongoing communication with all team members.
  • Conduct team member counseling and disciplinary action in concert with human resources personnel as needed.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize operating efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Participate in the organization's patient experience program through review of patient survey data, feedback to radiation therapy team members, and response to patient complaints or concerns related to team members or delivery of radiation therapy.
  • Inform management of responses to any concerns, complaints, or unusual situations related to team members, contractors, visitors, or patients.
  • Promote safety and collaboration in the patient treatment rooms.
  • Maintain current subject matter expertise and revenue cycle guidelines through participation in continuing education programs and independent research.
  • Oversee communication to patients for scheduling changes, delays or other events that impact their appointment or experience.
  • Collaborate with the Center for Biomedical Research and Provision Diagnostic Imaging as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate from a formal university, college, BS preferred
  • 3-5 years management experience in cancer services or radiation oncology
  • Radiation therapist licensure granted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • ARRT licensure must be up to date and in good standing
  • Licensed as a Radiation Therapist in the State of Tennessee
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Proficient in use of CT imaging equipment and software
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Outpatient clinic experience
  • Experience with Varian linear accelerators
  • Aria OIS and Eclipse TPS experience/knowledge
  • Knowledge of radiation safety standards and principles
  • Ability to work with therapeutic and diagnostic radiation equipment
  • Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers
  • Ability to provide excellent patient care
  • Proficient in radiation physics
  • Ability to solve and analyze problems
  • Proficient in EMR/Excel/Word/Introductory IT skills
  • Team development and strong manager skills
  • Ability to perform conflict resolution
  • Communication proficiency
