Position Details Position Information Internal Posting?Posting Number SP004919P Position Title Support Specialist Division/College Student Affairs Department Center for Disability Access & Resources Location Moscow Posting Context Statement This position works with Neuro-Diverse students in the Raven Scholars program. They will provide academic and social skills support to neuro-diverse students, working with campus constituents to help mitigate barriers academically and socially. There will be times that this position will work as an Access Specialist within the Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR) to help with navigating the accommodation process and potentially interview students with disabilities to determine accommodation needs. Position Overview The Support Specialist provides a comprehensive suite of services for University of Idaho students that identify as neuro-diverse and are part of the Raven Scholars Program. This donation-based program helps students transition successfully to university life by offering structured academic and social support, including weekly planning meetings, peer mentoring, workshops and coordinated campus services. This role combines responsibilities in coaching, program coordination, staff supervision and advocacy to promote student retention, engagement and success.   • One experience supporting students in academic or social skills development
  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality and using sound judgment
  • Proficiency with computer applications
  • Experience planning events or managing training programs
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling, education, social work, psychology, sociology, political science, human services, adult/organizational leadership and learning, human development and family studies, communication, health sciences, or family and consumer sciences; four additional years of experience supporting students in academic or social skills development may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree

  • Master's Degree in counseling, education, social work, psychology, sociology, political science, human services, adult/organizational leadership and learning, human development and family studies, communication, health sciences, or family and consumer sciences
  • Knowledge of disability laws and regulations
  • Experience providing coaching or mentoring in an educational or professional setting
  • Ability to teach learning strategies to students with executive functioning challenges
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mediate, multi-task, analyze problems and implement solutions independently
