Nurses must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz. Understanding cardiac rhythms is essential for patient safety. Shift required is 3x12 nights from 19:00 to 07:30. There are no call requirements. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Floating to similar or lesser units may be necessary. The patient ratio during nights is 1:5. Total staffed beds on the unit are 36. The unit cares for adults and geriatric patients with various diagnoses including telemetry, stroke, and CHF. Patients may present with conditions such as chest pain, myocardial infarction, syncope, hypertension, and overdoses. The unit experiences high acuity and is very busy. Some equipment allows for hemodialysis, and all modes of oxygenation except for ventilators are utilized. The unit has interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and more. Additional requirements include the completion of up to 8 hours of pre-start modules within one week of signing. Candidates must agree to obtain all required certifications before starting. Charting experience in Cerner is required. Candidates should have a willingness to float to the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals based on volume or census.
