Description of Duties:
Financial well-being and financial self-efficacy have direct impacts on student financial stress, academic performance, and retention and persistence in higher education. As a part of our efforts to enhance financial support for students throughout their academic careers, the University at Albany has received funding from the US Department of Education to pilot a new program called FACTS: Financial Assistance Coaching and Tools for Success. The program includes connection with a Financial Coach for individual support sessions on critical milestones and finance-related paperwork and small group sessions on financial literacy.
Reporting to the Director for Innovative Projects, Systems, and Data Management, the FACTS Data Analyst will develop dashboards and visualizations to track project milestones as well as providing in-depth analysis on actionable operational data and trends in student behavior. The Data Analyst will serve as a member of the Core FACTS Team and will collaborate closely in providing data to the project evaluators.
This is a collaborative, in-person position on UAlbany's campus. Relocation assistance is not provided.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support major grant-funded Financial Assistance Coaching & Tools for Success (FACTS) initiative
Collaborate with campus stakeholders and data review team to access and obtain data needed for initiative
Prepare internal Financial Assistance Coaching & Tools for Success (FACTS) program data reports
Financial award application and process completions
Student loan acceptance, financial holds, and open balances
Scholarship and grant awards
Withdrawals
Tracking consent to participate in study
Tracking student intervention participation
Preparing data for financial coaches in advance of intervention cycles
Tracking intervention outcomes including milestone updates and financial coach action items
Identify emerging patterns in operational data on student success interventions within the Financial Assistance Coaching & Tools for Success (FACTS) initiative
Develop accessible dashboards for Financial Assistance Coaching & Tools for Success (FACTS) program to include dynamic tables, reports, and graphics.
Prepare presentation materials in support of unit updates for internal and external use, e.g.,
Updates to Financial Assistance Coaching & Tools for Success (FACTS) program semesterly and annual report
AISS leadership reports
University leadership reports
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
3-4 years related work experience with data analysis
Experience working in a higher education environment
Experience working with large data sets, developing queries, and merging data sets
Experience working with SQL for query development
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Requirements:
Graduate level coursework in data analytics, data science, statistics or related discipline from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Experience working with: Power BI, SPSS, and/or Tableau
Experience working with relational databases with multiple tables
Experience creating data visualization
Experience with PeopleSoft or other student information system
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $58,000 - $60,000
