Position Description

Join our Ryder family as a Permanent Full-Time Senior Diesel Technician in our Truck Fleet! We are looking for skilled individuals to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Hourly Pay: $28.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: Earn $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter
  • Sign-On Bonus: Receive $1,750 after 30 days and another $1,750 after 90 days
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: First Shift, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Routine preventative maintenance experience (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Basic diagnostics and repairs including AC and electrical systems required
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • Other certifications as required by location
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium-duty equipment
  • Basic computer skills required
  • This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles; you must obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Conduct standard and preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Interact with customers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize shop management systems for documentation
  • Work in accordance with federal and corporate compliance guidelines
  • Mentor lower-level technicians
  • Complete required OEM online diagnostic training
