Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, monitor, and adjust chemical plating baths (gold, silver, electroless/electrolytic nickel) to maintain optimal chemical composition.
- Collect bath samples, perform titrations and other wet-chemistry tests, and accurately record results.
- Operate lab instruments (e.g., pH meters, conductivity meters, analytical balances) and troubleshoot small equipment issues.
- Assist plating operators in tank set-up, masking, and post-plating cleaning.
- Inspect samples and test panels for coating thickness, adhesion, and finish quality.
- Maintain logbooks and electronic records per SOPs and quality standards.
- Help manage lab inventory-chemicals, reagents, consumables-ensuring safety compliance and proper labeling/disposal.
- Support regulatory testing, including waste streams and environmental compliance protocols.
- Keep the lab clean, organized, and stocked to ensure a safe, efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree/training in chemistry, materials science or similar preferred.
- Previous experience in chemical lab or plating lab role strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in wet chemistry-titrations, pH measurements, concentration analysis.
- Hands-on familiarity with lab equipment and ability to troubleshoot.
- Excellent attention to detail and data documentation accuracy.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with operators and supervisors.
- Ability to stand for long periods, carry 25-30 lbs, and work safely with chemicals and PPE.
- Team player with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
