Job Summary Part of a collaborative team of Product Managers responsible for the technical configuration, maintenance, and support of critical vendor systems used by University Housing. Provide both operational and back-up technical support, coordinate recurring tasks, generate reports and documentation, and deliver end-user support to University Housing staff and students.Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with current product managers and other university staff to develop and maintain expertise related to the configuration, workflow, and operational use of key University Housing systems, including those used for occupancy management, dining point-of-sale and meal plans, door access control and facility management.
- Provide backup support for system operations, ensuring continuity during staff absences or increased workload. Assist with troubleshooting issues, responding to support requests, and maintaining day-to-day system performance.
- Respond to support requests from University Housing staff and students, helping troubleshoot system issues, provide training, and ensure positive user experiences.
- Assist in developing and maintaining comprehensive system documentation, including configuration records, process guides, training materials, and support procedures to ensure knowledge continuity.
- Analyze current system use and processes to identify inefficiencies or opportunities for enhancement. Collaborate with the product management team and stakeholders to recommend and implement improvements.
- Support the execution of recurring tasks such as term-based system updates, report generation, user access audits, and system integrations.
- Actively participate in team meetings, cross-departmental initiatives, and vendor discussions to align system operations with departmental goals and university standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Physical Demands This position is eligible for in-person, or hybrid work arrangement. Most work will be accomplished in a typical office work environment but may include visits to different customer and meeting locations on campus. Occasional travel for training and/or conferences may be required. May be required to work occasional evening and weekend hours. May be required to be on call in cases of emergencies. Position may involve light lifting. Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Any one or any combination totaling four (4) years (48 months) from the following categories: College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. Demonstrated work experience with software/system management. Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of work experience managing a software system.
- Experience managing TouchNet or other point-of sale software and hardware.
- Experience managing door access software and hardware.
- Experience managing StarRez or other occupancy management software.
- Experience managing facilities management software.
- Vendor management.

Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/25/2025.
- Salary Information: The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 per year. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
- Work Location: Hybrid work options may be available for this position, with the ability to be on-site at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus as needed per the University's Workplace Flexibility Policy.
