The role involves completing echo worksheets and performing all necessary calculations in a timely manner. The staff member will be responsible for the care of adult and geriatric patients. Each staff member will rely on their past experiences and professional training with geriatric and adult patients to meet care standards. Staff training will be reinforced through mandatory continuing education to maintain Current Registry status. Methods of training may include video/digital presentations and seminars addressing cutting-edge technology as well as the reinforcement of basic skills. The Echocardiographer will uphold a high degree of professional ethics and conduct. Familiarity with the technical operations of all ultrasound equipment is essential. The position requires performing all related diagnostic duties and patient care functions requiring comparable skills and experiences. Assessments will be performed on adult and geriatric patients, taking into consideration the physiological and anatomical needs of each patient. The Echocardiographer will meet established standards of care for all patients. Patients will be informed about the procedures, with explanations provided regarding each step. The Echocardiographer will assist Cardiologists during procedures. All examinations will be charted in the patient's medical record. Equipment will be cleaned and maintained regularly. The assigned room must be kept clean and well-stocked with supplies. Assistance will be provided to students and fellows during on-the-job training, including possible evaluation of students. Mandatory continuing education is encouraged to enhance professional growth. Skills required for the position include the ability to lift up to twenty pounds routinely, standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, kneeling, and wrist and digital dexterity. Patient lifting, ambulating, and transfer of patients in wheelchairs, gurneys, and beds are required, along with the use of mechanical lifts. Verbal and written English communication skills are necessary for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards. A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, while a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
