Job Responsibilities Hazard Identification and Risk Mitigation:
- Identify potential safety hazards on construction sites and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with project teams to establish site-specific safety plans and procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure that all construction activities adhere to relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, corrective actions, and training activities.
Communication and Training:
- Promote a culture of safety by effectively communicating safety expectations and standards to all construction site personnel.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to address specific safety concerns and topics.
- Provide guidance and support to subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with safety protocols.
Emergency Response and Preparedness:
- Develop emergency response plans and procedures for various potential incidents, such as fires, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
- Coordinate with emergency services and personnel to ensure swift and effective response to emergencies.
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze safety performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Propose and implement enhancements to safety programs based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in construction safety management, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations pertaining to construction.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using relevant safety software, tools, and technology for documentation and reporting.
