The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Registered Nurse on 2 West develops specialized skill in the area of Cardiac Care including telemetry monitoring. The Registered Nurse on 2 West also provides care to adult adolecent and geriatric populations with medical and/or surgical conditions. The 2 West RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The 2 West Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.naEDUCATION:Minimum:* Graduate of an Accredited School of Registered Professional NursingPreferred:* BSNLICENSE:Minimum:* Current NYS license or Limited Permit to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:Minimum:* BLS, ACLS, and PALS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.* Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire.* CPI within one year of hire into this position.WORK EXPERIENCE:Preferred:* One year of successful performance as a RN in medical/surgical environment.SKILLS:Minimum:* Interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.* Analytical skills to assess, prepare, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of the plan of care.* Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.* Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.* Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.* Computer literacyPreferred:* Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
