In this position, you will be part of a team of best-in-class quality engineers. You will own the quality of Crestron's intelligent video camera systems, a rapidly growing portfolio within our Unified Communications and AV platforms. This includes advanced speaker-tracking cameras, face orientation switching, multi-camera orchestration, and AI-enhanced video experiences.As a Lead QE, you will partner closely with Product Management, Firmware/Software Development, and System Architecture teams to define and execute comprehensive test strategies that reflect real-world enterprise conferencing and AV control workflows. You will lead validation across multiple intelligent camera products, identify critical system-level gaps, and drive quality from concept through release.We are seeking an individual with a passion for quality, deep expertise in embedded system testing, automation, and real-time video/audio validation.Responsibilities

  • Review product requirements, design documents, and technical specifications to identify potential quality risks early in the development cycle.
  • Define and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test matrices that align with customer scenarios and usage patterns.
  • Lead manual and automated test execution for intelligent camera systems, including setup validation, feature testing, and system-level workflows.
  • Perform end-to-end validation, including feature, regression, performance, and interoperability testing across different conferencing platforms and environments.
  • Validate software, firmware, and configuration updates across multiple camera models and system builds.
  • Log, track, and manage defects using test and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA), ensuring clear documentation and reproducibility.
  • Conduct root cause analysis in collaboration with development teams, supported by debug logs, recordings, and trace data.
  • Reproduce and investigate customer-reported or field-found issues, ensuring comprehensive triage and resolution tracking.
  • Analyze test coverage and quality metrics to provide data-driven insights to stakeholders and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with automation engineers to identify and prioritize test areas suitable for automation and support test script integration.
  • Manage lab setups, camera rigs, system configurations, and test environments to support test execution and validation efficiency.
  • Drive process improvements within the QE organization to increase coverage, efficiency, and product quality across releases.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required. Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience in embedded systems , with 2+ years in a lead or senior role, is required.
  • Experience with defect tracking systems, test management systems, and software revision control is required.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware updates, and driver-level debugging.
  • Experience in IP and networking protocols (TCP/IP, SIP, Ethernet, IGMP, DHCP, Active Directory) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems is preferred.
  • Experience in user experience testing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Strong testing background in hardware and software systems, preferably involving embedded or AV devices.
  • Experience planning and executing system-level validation, including feature, regression, and exploratory testing.
  • Familiarity with audio/video peripherals, connectivity (USB, HDMI, IP), and device behavior under real-world conditions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues across hardware, firmware, and application layers with minimal guidance.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage multiple test efforts and timelines concurrently.
  • Clear and effective communication skills for defect reporting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven ability to lead small teams, mentor junior engineers, and represent QE in cross-functional discussions.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a bias toward proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams across software, firmware, hardware, and product teams.
  • Proven ability to lead a test team, prioritize scope, and deliver under aggressive schedules.
  • Strong documentation, verbal, and presentation skills for communicating across global teams.
  • Track record of driving root cause analysis and aligning quality efforts with customer use cases.
  • Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Willingness to challenge assumptions and advocate for quality at every step of the development cycle.
  • Team oriented; strong interpersonal skills is essential.
Per applicable state requirements, the annual pay range for this position ($108,000 - $175,000) which consists of base salary (subject to performance), reflects the hiring range for candidates.
