Base pay range

$210,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr

It is also supported by a global alternative investment manager and managed by associates and executives who are well-known and well-respected leaders in the life & annuity space.Their mission is to help individuals achieve a clear picture of what their retirement should look like and then put in place a structure that will give someone the security and predictability they are looking for in their retirement income.AboutReporting to the Head of Accounting Policy, The Director of Accounting Policy is a newly created role which is being driven by growth in the organization and helps support the Accounting Policy needs of several internal and external constituencies. The OAP is made up of about 12 people and there will be staff reporting into this role. Since there is a focus on looking at the team in a holistic manner, candidates who bring to the table expertise in one or a few areas will be considered. For the purposes of this search, a background in the following areas will be considered:

• Accounting Policy for Insurance Contract Liability (Liability Side)
• Accounting Policy for Investments classes i.e.: derivatives, alternatives, CLO's, structured assets, etc. (Investments Side)

For the successful candidate who has an expertise in these areas, the expectation would be that they would be part of the the face/voice of the carrier when working with the NAIC, ACLI and other regulatory bodies. There is a lot of interaction with the client's asset management firm that, as a rule of thumb, is always exploring interesting, complex investment/business structuring opportunities, so the expectation is that the candidate will be able to offer up to the asset management firm, several accounting policy considerations as they explore these scenarios. In addition, the successful candidate will liaise with other executive stakeholders internally.

• Location is hybrid NYC (2 days WFO, 3 days WFH) or in IA (same schedule)
• Compensation would be appropriate for up to a Senior Manager or recently appointed Director from Big 4 (the client is flexible on compensation and an approximate range based on the market is shown)

Some Highlights

• Support all aspects of US GAAP and US STAT accounting policy activities across business units
• Manage a team responsible for transactions related to: Insurance contracts, reinsurance contracts, mergers & acquisitions, pension group annuities, product development, and general accounting topics, or Investments and derivatives, including structured securities, consolidation accounting, and hedging
• Lead the communication of accounting guidance developed by the FASB, SEC and NAIC
• CPA
• Experience in US GAAP accounting for life and annuity insurance and reinsurance contracts, including long-duration targeted improvements (LDTI), or Experience in US GAAP accounting for investments, including variable interest entities, CECL, structured securities, and derivatives
• Experience in US Statutory accounting for life and annuity insurance companies
