The Director of Owned Channels Merchandise Planning and Allocation role is a newly created role at Glossier that will focus on building out a high performing merchandise planning and allocation function. This role will be responsible for driving sales and profitability through inventory discipline across our E-Commerce and Retail channels in a thoughtful and strategic manner. This role will work closely with cross-functional partners and channel leads across Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, E-Commerce, and Retail.

The best candidate will have a broad skill set including strong Buying, Planning, and Allocation prowess, Category management skills, Analytical horsepower, excellent business judgment, and deep curiosity about how things work. This role will report directly to our Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

Expectations
  • Manage the creation, review, and execution of the Open to Buy budget for our Beauty and Non-Beauty categories to meet revenue and margin expectations.
  • Develop a comprehensive merchandise strategy, forecasting, and reporting by category, franchise, SKU, and channel, based on selling data, customer analytics, category dynamics, and market conditions.
  • Manage the development, execution, and communication of allocation strategies across Owned channels, working closely with Channel leads of E-Commerce and Retail, as well as Store Directors and Retail Operations.
  • Partner with Demand Planning, Supply Chain, and Logistics to ensure the right levels of inventory are ordered and allocated.
  • Participate in the monthly S&OP process by providing inputs into feeder meetings and preparing analysis as needed for the monthly demand review.
  • Partner with the Wholesale channel to balance inventory needs based on demand variations as well as conduct full inventory lifecycle planning including end of life.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to support accurate business forecasting and areas that can be leveraged to achieve optimal inventory levels and maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to plan new launches, ensuring the right Buy to support financial goals.
  • Develop deep cross-functional relationships and trust across the organization.
  • Participate in shaping process efficiencies across the organization.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in Merchandise Planning and Allocation in an Omnichannel environment with Retail stores and E-Commerce; Experience in a Wholesale environment is a plus.
  • Highly analytical skill set and a proven track record of data-driven insights into successful tactics.
  • Strong cross-functional experience working with Channel GMs, Stores, Demand Planning, Operations, and Logistics.
  • Experience in building senior-level internal relationships in a complex and dynamic organization.
  • Passionate self-starter, decisive, and able to move with speed to implement ideas.
  • Can operate with ambiguity, with the nuanced ability to balance profitability and Brand.
  • Strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and the desire to bring structure to undefined processes.
  • A hands-on, results-driven mentality combined with a high desire to work strategically.
  • A consumer-focused mindset is a must; Beauty/Fashion/Jewelry brand experience is a plus.
  • A passion for Glossier and our unique approach to beauty.
  • Must be New York City based.
Compensation

In accordance with the applicable law, the following represents a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum compensation range for this position:

  • The estimated annual pay range for this role is $154,000 - $180,000.
  • Full-time positions are also eligible for a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes medical health insurance, 401K, equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units, Paid Time Off, Short Term and Long Term Disability leave, and a range of other benefits.

Compensation for the role will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
