Job Summary:

Under the general guidance of the Lead Pilot, safely and expeditiously transport medical personnel, patients, and equipment to and from requested locations in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), the PHI operations manual, and any state, municipal regulations, or customer policies that may apply. Flies non-jet fixed winged aircraft.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs a thorough preflight inspection immediately upon arrival.
  • Safely and expeditiously transports medical attendants, patients, and equipment to and from requested locations.
  • Safely operate the aircraft at appropriate altitudes considering such factors as wind speed and direction, turbulence, oxygen requirements, patient condition, “fly neighborly” policies, and pertinent FAR's, i.e., semicircular rules, and minimum safe altitudes.
  • Maintain availability in a timely manner for any flight request during the duty shift.
  • Ensure proper loading of passengers, cargo, and the safety and security of the aircraft.
  • Maintain awareness of current and forecast weather conditions and advise communication specialists and medical attendants of its impact on flight operations.
  • Maintain radio communications with the Communications Center providing position reports in accordance with PHI policies.
  • Perform post flight inspections as soon as practical after each flight. If a discrepancy is noted, enter it in the engineering report and notify maintenance personnel without delay.
  • Advise the Communications Center and medical personnel of any changes in aircraft.
  • Provide recurrent training and shift briefings to assigned personnel as required by paragraph VB3 of the PHI operations manual.
  • Assist in public relations efforts when not required for aircraft duties.
  • Attend meetings with the program if not in conflict with crew rest requirements in order to coordinate and disseminate information.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent GED
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate ratings
  • 2,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command
  • Must meet the commission on Accreditation of Air Medical Services (CAAMS) Accreditation Standards for pilots
  • Must be able to pass pre-placement physical exam including functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, lift 100 pounds) drug screening and background screen
  • Ability to communicate verbally, effectively and clearly in person and by radio

Schedule/Location:

  • 7&7
  • Must reside within a 60-minute commute from the base

Compensation and Benefits:

** Potential annual earnings $115,844 - $143,757 **

Plus up to a 25% location bonus

**California candidates are eligible for the sign-on bonus up to $25,000. Once overtime and double time hours are calculated the additional wages can generate additional compensation, potentially making the entire bonus worth as much as $50,000 depending on total overtime and double time hours worked
