The HR Regional Director (RD) serves as an operational and strategic business partner to our family of brands within their assigned region. Reporting directly to the Vice President People Strategy and Solutions, the RD will support day-to-day operations, multi-brand leadership, labor relations, and compliance initiatives. A strong focus will be placed on proactively partnering with each business brand to align operational execution, labor strategy, financial outcomes, and employee experience with our core values and growth goals.

This position reports to the VP of People Strategy and Solutions. The Ideal candidate will be located in Detroit, MI.

HR Regional Director Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as an aligned business partner to each assigned brand, providing direct operational, labor relations, and compliance support tailored to their unique needs.
  • Lead, manage, and develop operational leaders across multiple locations, ensuring business objectives, brand standards, and client expectations are consistently met.
  • Leading or assisting with union contract negotiations and ratifications.
  • Handling grievances and employee disputes in partnership with brand leadership.
  • Representing the company during arbitration proceedings.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate remittance of union dues and benefits.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each brand's operational goals, financial targets, and workforce challenges to deliver customized support and solutions.
  • Partner closely with HR, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure consistent application of company policies, labor laws, and best practices across brands.
  • Drive accountability and excellence in operational processes, safety programs, service delivery, and financial stewardship within the region.
  • Coach and guide local leadership teams through business challenges, employee relations concerns, and operational scaling.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives, including staffing strategies, leadership development, and succession planning in collaboration with HR.
  • Monitor regional financial performance, budget adherence, and profitability goals.
  • Travel throughout the assigned region (up to 25-35%) to maintain strong relationships with brand leaders, clients, and frontline teams.

HR Regional Director Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations Management, Labor Relations, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive multi-site HR leadership experience required.
  • Strong background working with unionized workforces, including experience in contract negotiation, grievance/arbitration handling, and union benefit remittance.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a collaborative and strategic partner to operational leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, travel regionally, and adapt to a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

HR Regional Director Preferred Skills

  • Facilities management, janitorial services, or security services industry experience.
  • Labor relations certification or formal training a plus.
