Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through strategic solutions in Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Systems Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, your responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of talented, experienced Engineers on research projects.
  • Analyzing project objectives and requirements, developing project plans, supporting safety reviews, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, hazard documentation, and mitigation development.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations supporting the customer's acquisition support mission.
  • Reviewing project instructions to understand requirements, specifications, and objectives.
  • Creating reports and documentation to describe study and test results.
  • Setting up and conducting tests or studies to improve performance or gather data, with supervisory review.
  • Qualifications

    Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical Science with at least 5 years' experience as a Principal Investigator, Group Leader, Project Engineer, Project Manager, or similar.
  • Alternatively,:
    • 20 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical Science.
    • 18 years of experience with a Master's Degree in Engineering or Physical Science.
    • 15 years of experience with a Doctoral Degree in Engineering or Physical Science.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass drug testing.
  • Strong understanding of Engineering principles and Systems Engineering processes.
  • Ability to work and lead in a dynamic, multi-task environment, prioritizing and coordinating tasks.
  • Commitment to safety principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage and decompose requirements in technical areas, with strong communication skills and team collaboration.
  • Experience in areas such as avionics hardware, data buses, software development, real-time systems, or system validation.
  • High degree of originality and sound judgment in engineering research and problem-solving.

    Our salary range is USD $129,800 - $216,700 per year, with actual compensation based on experience and other factors. We offer comprehensive benefits including healthcare, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance, and education assistance.
