We are looking for an individual who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, and risk management. The ideal candidate will ensure the company's financial health, compliance, and strategic growth through robust financial processes and systems.

The role will report to the CFO. This is a full-time position. It is a critical role in our organization as the seamless & secure flow of capital between gaming studios, the company and our capital providers is core to the value proposition of our partners and ultimately to our shareholders.

This role forms part of the core team where the Financial Controller will participate in management meetings that typically occur weekly and be expected to contribute to the definition and execution of the overall business strategy required to scale the company.

The company is an early-stage startup. This represents an exciting opportunity to establish core financial controls, processes and systems from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Develop Core Processes and Systems
• Work with the outsourcing provider to establish accounting and reporting systems to handle the unique demands of a capital-lending model.
• Drive automation of financial workflows where possible, including loan processing and repayment tracking.
• Establish scalable financial processes that can support rapid business growth.
• Financial Management and Reporting
• Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
• Develop and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Coordinate and lead annual audits.
• Develop metrics to track the performance of loans to gaming studios, including repayment rates, and default risk.
• Collaborate with data teams to ensure robust reporting on portfolio performance and financial health.
• Budgeting and Forecasting
• Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process.
• Monitor and analyze variances between budgeted and actual financial performance.
• Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on financial forecasts.
• Tax and Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate tax returns and other statutory requirements.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and implement necessary changes.
• Cash Flow, Treasury & Risk Management
• Manage cash flow to support loan disbursements, operations, and repayment schedules
• Oversee treasury functions, including debt and investment management.
• Implement robust risk management strategies to protect against loan defaults and ensure liquidity.
• Team Leadership and Development
• Promoting a culture of high performance and accountability.
• Foster collaboration between finance and other departments to optimize financial outcomes.
• Implement and maintain efficient accounting systems and processes.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
• Support the CEO, CPO & Chief Financial Officer where required by the business.
• We are a small organization where individuals are expected to contribute as needed by the overall team in other potential verticals as the business grows.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience within accounting or financial services. Experience in gaming is advantageous but not required.
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification required.
• Technical skills include strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, proficiency in financial software (QuickBooks), and familiarity with financial modelling
• Proven track record in managing financial operations, cash flow and regulatory compliance in a high-growth environment
• Strong interpersonal, writing, technical, and presentation skills; with strong confidence in sharing and supporting opinions and positions.
• Enthusiasm for and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with an ability to foster creativity, communication, and synergies between colleagues and companies.
• High degree of integrity, intellectual curiosity, and team-orientation.
