EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR FACILITIES OPERATIONS

This position requires passing the Civil Service Exam for continued employment. The Department of Social Services (DSS) comprises the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS), dedicated to fighting poverty, reducing homelessness, and providing essential services.

HRA/General Support Services (GSS) manages facilities planning, design, renovation, maintenance, and related services for HRA's social programs. The role involves supervising the Division of Property Management, coordinating with various units to ensure facilities are well-maintained and compliant with safety standards.

The Administrative Supervisor of Building Maintenance (M-III) will function as the Executive Director for Facilities Operations, reporting to the First Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Facilities Operations. Responsibilities include:

Collaborating on establishing goals, policies, and procedures to support support services objectives.

Overseeing efforts across Facilities Operations, monitoring projects, and ensuring timely completion.

Improving internal procedures for efficiency and alignment with agency goals.

Handling sensitive inquiries and resolving issues.

Managing maintenance of leased and city-owned locations, ensuring OSHA compliance.

Overseeing property management, furniture procurement, and accommodations in line with policies.

Acting on behalf of the First Assistant Deputy Commissioner when unavailable.

Hours: Managerial Work Schedule

Minimum Qualifications:

• Eight years of experience in construction, repair, or building management, including supervisory roles, or
• Equivalent education and experience with at least 18 months supervisory experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Excellent communication, supervisory, and leadership skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficiency in MS Office, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and teamwork.

This position is open to qualified persons with a disability through the 55-a Program. NYC residency is not required. The salary range is $110,000 - $142,000 annually.
