Trapper's Sushi is looking to grow our team by adding a new Controller to our team! As one of the Pacific Northwest's most desired dining establishments, our mission is to learn our customers names, as well as provide the best service and food possible, leaving our customers with a craving to come back for more!The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities of the organization. This role ensures the accuracy of financial reports, compliance with regulatory requirements, and efficient internal controls across all 15 of our locations in AZ, TX and WA. The Controller will lead the accounting team and collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making through sound financial management and reporting.This position reports directly to the CFO and indirectly to the CEO and will be required to report in-person to our Federal Way office location. The compensation for this position ranges from $125,000 - $175,000, depending on experience. • Oversee all accounting operations for 15 locations in 3 states, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, 401K administration.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Manage the annual audit process with external auditors
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis in collaboration with department heads
• Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team
• Evaluate accounting software and systems for improvement opportunities
• Provide financial insights to support strategic planning and operational efficiency
• Demonstrate and uphold all TRAPCHK core

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Experience in Restaurant industry preferred

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times (e.g., boxes of files or office supplies)
• Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
• Ability to maintain focus in a busy, open office environment
