WiseLayer is using AI + ELT to evolve the end-to-end financial flows at companies.Because of our successes to-date, we very recently raised multiple millions of dollars in funding from top-tier VCs on both coasts and have a huge number of paid corporate clients accessing our accounting AI agents.

Our proprietary AI + ELT fin-tech platform automates large parts of a company's accounting close processes each month through our AI agents like Angela for Accruals. Here's a 2-min explainer video describing how she works:

Our team (9 people today, 8 of whom are engineers) has already achieved important milestones, such as building a powerful technology product used by many happy paying customers that include prominent CFOs at well-known companies. We're now hiring for a strategic Staff Engineer with real experience implementing AI for growing companies at scale to help WiseLayer to achieve our bold vision for product expansion and growth. Location:

• We are seeking someone who is able to come to our offices in NYC 4 days per week (Mon-Thus: in-office / Fri: work from home), as this is the arrangement for our current team. We believe that a highly-driven in-person team who can easily collaborate and move quickly will ultimately develop the best possible product. That said, our flexible work environment supports remote work for all team members whenever needed. Also, we are open to discussing alternative arrangements for the right candidate

The Role:

As a Staff Engineer you'll play a crucial role in developing and refining our product's AI. You'll report directly to our CTO/Co-founder and work closely with our engineering and product teams to enhance our AI capabilities and drive innovation in our fin-tech AI platform.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize the best in class models available on the market to deliver meaningful solutions for our clients, bringing them from the idea stage all the way to production
• Collaborate with the team to integrate AI solutions into our existing production processes
• Design and implement scalable AI system architecture handling including model orchestration, caching strategies, and fallback mechanisms
• Evaluate and implement new AI technologies and methodologies to keep WiseLayer at the cutting edge

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer or a similar role developing, shipping, and testing of software within a well established enterprise, bonus points if at a fast growth enterprise
• Demonstrated experience working with production LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) including handling rate limits, cost optimization, and performance monitoring in live systems (not just vibe coding)
• Clear experience utilizing frameworks like RAG in production applications to further enhance the foundational models for proprietary applications and datasets
• Experience with AI system testing methodologies including model evaluation, A/B testing of AI features, and monitoring model performance in production
• Experience with data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes (given our data-intensive AI workflows)
• Strong track record of experience with backend development in Java

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of data privacy and security best practices particularly in the age of AI
• Experience with model deployment and MLOps practices
• Understanding of AI cost optimization and performance tuning
• Experience with vector databases and embedding systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in fin-tech or financial services industry a plus

Salary Range:

• $150,000-$250,000 per annum
