About the Role

Our client, a highly regarded hedge fund / alternative investment firm based in Midtown Manhattan NYC, is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer with strong Azure experience to join their lean, hands-on technology team. This role will focus on supporting and modernizing the firm's infrastructure environment, automating key processes, and helping ensure a secure, scalable hybrid platform.

This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with a Windows infrastructure background who has evolved into cloud systems engineering and enjoys working across on-prem and Azure environments.

Core Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and optimize the firm's Windows Server and Azure infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across hybrid environments.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling (PowerShell, Python) to streamline provisioning, deployment, and system management.
• Implement and manage Azure resources, including VMs, networking components, storage, and security configurations.
• Work on Information Security initiatives to deploy and support security solutions such as MFA, SSO, and endpoint protection.
• Monitor and assist with CI/CD pipelines, providing troubleshooting and support for deployment workflows.
• Participate in decommissioning legacy systems and migrating workloads into Azure where appropriate.
• Partner with business teams to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide responsive, high-quality support.
• Write and troubleshoot SQL queries and stored procedures to assist with reporting or data validation as needed (nice to have).

What We're Looking For

• 5–10+ years of progressive IT experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or cloud platform support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure services and administration, including VMs, networking, and security.
• Deep expertise with PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration management.
• Solid background in Windows Server management, Active Directory, and group policy.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (ActiveBatch, Ansible, or similar) is a plus.
• Experience supporting or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Exposure to SQL and database querying is helpful but not required.
• Polished, collaborative professional comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams.
• Preference for candidates who thrive in smaller or boutique environments where versatility is essential.
