We are currently hiring for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare client at their specialty practice in Downtown Portland ME. Schedule:
- Portland: Full-time Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week)
Hourly Rate:
- $20.00-$28.00/hour depending on prior clinical experience
Duties:
Clinical Duties:
- Patient Preparation: Room patients promptly, documenting vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
- Assisting Providers: Support physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and/or procedures.
- Diagnostic Testing: Administer and prepare patients for tests such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, phlebotomy, and immunizations.
- Specimen Handling: Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring proper labeling and preparation for analysis.
- Medication Management: Assist with medication reconciliation, administer injections, and manage prescription refills under provider supervision.
- Patient Education: Provide information on treatments, medications, and health maintenance to patients
Administrative Duties:
- Appointment Coordination: Schedule patient visits and manage follow-up appointments.
- Documentation: Accurately enter patient information into electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
- Communication: Manage patient inquiries via phone, email, and patient portals, addressing concerns and relaying messages to providers.
- Office Management: Handle clerical tasks such as sorting and scanning documents, managing incoming faxes, and maintaining patient records.
Experience Required:
Education (must meet one of the following):
- Graduation from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience
- Completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting
- 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (Equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.)
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required
- Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date
Additional Skills:
- Conduct telehealth visits as part of our commitment to providing access to care. Must possess strong digital literacy skills, demonstrate proficiency with telehealth platforms, and maintain a high standard of patient care and communication in a virtual setting.
- Prior EMR Experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a heart of compassion and empathy towards patients and families.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and partner with team members, including physicians and other clinicians, market leaders, center managers, nurses, case managers, front desk staff, and center managers.
- Mindset focused on resolving problems for patients and achieving team goals.
- Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
- Skilled in basic phone and computer operation.
- Spoken and written fluency in English.
