AllSTEM Connections is seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist to work onsite in Kenilworth, NJ.

Our confidential client is a leading manufacturer of high-quality Retail & Foodservice desserts, operating four facilities in the NY/NJ area.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Salary range is from 70-$90,000 annual base salary, depending on experience.

SUMMARY:

This individual will play a critical role in ensuring products comply with all applicable food safety and labeling regulations (FDA, USDA, FSMA, GFSI, etc.), while supporting product development, innovation, and market expansion. The Lead Regulatory Specialist will be responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance and strategy, ensuring that all products meet the necessary legal standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regulatory Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with U.S. and international food laws and regulations, including FDA, USDA, FSMA, and relevant global standards
  • Labeling & Claims Review:
  • Lead the review and approval of product labels, packaging, and marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards

Regulatory Strategy & Risk Management

  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies for new product introductions and reformulations
  • Identify potential regulatory risks and propose mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate regulatory documentation and prepare regulatory submissions and dossiers as required by national and international authorities
  • Act as the regulatory liaison between R&D, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to support business objectives and ensure compliance from concept to launch

Audits & Inspections

  • Support internal and external audits, including those by FDA, third-party certifiers, and customers
  • Lead responses and corrective actions related to regulatory findings

Monitoring & Intelligence

  • Monitor changes in food laws and regulations and proactively communicate impacts and opportunities to the business

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and train junior regulatory staff, and coordinate activities across multiple projects and teams
  • Develop and deliver training on labeling, compliance updates, and regulatory risk mitigation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 – 6 years of regulatory experience in the food or beverage industry
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. food regulations (FDA, USDA, FSMA)
  • Strong understanding of ingredient regulations, food labeling, claims substantiation, and product development lifecycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
