Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is seeking a Project Manager to join our Charlotte, NC office, managing high-voltage transmission line design projects ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV. This role requires strong leadership, a strategic mindset, and an entrepreneurial spirit to manage multiple, complex projects in both overhead and underground transmission systems.The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring delivery on-time, within scope and budget, while maintaining exceptional client relationships. You will also play a key role in business development and proposal efforts in coordination with Account Managers.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of multiple transmission line projects, including siting, permitting, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
- Serve as the primary client liaison, responsible for communication, coordination, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Develop proposals, lead presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
- Establish and monitor project schedules, budgets, and scope to ensure successful outcomes.
- Oversee and implement project controls, risk management, and QA/QC procedures.
- Manage internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project timelines, technical standards, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate internal financial activities, including project cost forecasting, invoicing, and change management.
- Ensure that deliverables meet client expectations and company quality standards.
- Lead regular progress meetings and provide detailed reporting on project status, risks, and milestones.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, supporting pursuits, and strengthening client relationships.
Design-Only Project Management DutiesFor design-only transmission projects, the Project Manager will:
- Manage engineering efforts and design schedules.
- Develop and maintain engineering budgets and deliverables.
- Lead internal and external QA/QC processes.
- Coordinate subcontracting activities and field engineering services.
- Prepare and submit change orders and monthly client reports.
- Oversee turnover and startup planning for each project phase.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in utility transmission line projects, including at least 3 years in project management.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving policy requirements.
