Overview TransitAmerica Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Communication Technician in Menlo Park, CA to join our team. The pay rate for this position is $43.58 per hour. Duties and Responsibilities: *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, testing, and corrective solutions to complex electronic communication systems under FCC guidelines. This includes but may not be limited to the following:
- Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs)
- Clipper payment systems
- Fiber Optic Network troubleshooting
- LAN/WAN network equipment and circuits
- SCADA Communication systems
- WiFi Communications systems
- Positive Train Control (PTC) systems
- Visual and Audio public display and announcement systems
- Office end circuits, servers, communications equipment, and dispatch workstations
- Responds to emergency situations and callouts under time sensitive repair constraints.
- Document inventory, procedures, specifications, and production accomplishments.
- Accomplishes tasks equally well both individually and within a team environment.
- Works within the confines of strict safety-oriented guidelines.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- FCC Radio qualification preferred.
- Proficiency with use of personal computer and fundamental knowledge of telecommunication systems (OSI model).
- Railroad Signaling & Equipment, Job briefing process, Equipment/system specifications, Safety Training Requirements, Material & Product knowledge, RWP/GCOR, Electrical repair tools, Cutting/power tools, Mechanical Dexterity, understand electrical/mechanical drawing, Troubleshooting Railroad Signaling Circuits & Equipment, Problem Solving & Decision Making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating proficiency using the English language.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements for this position.
- Lift and transfer weight up to 70 pounds for a distance of up to 100 feet.
- Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
- Regularly ascend and descend an 18 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
- Regularly push/pull with a body force of up to 50 pounds.
- Use hands to regularly grasp or squeeze wrenches, switches requiring force up to 60 pounds.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
- Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
- Work in a confined access/space environment as narrow as 18 inches.
