Job Title: Phlebotomist Location: Hyannis, MA 02601 Shift: Rotating Day Shifts (6:00 AM - 7:00 PM in various 8-hour blocks) Schedule: 40 hours per week | Rotating days | Occasional weekends & holidays Pay Rate: $30 - $33 per hour Contract Duration: 13 WeeksPosition Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Phlebotomist to support blood collection and donor services. The ideal candidate will play a key role in organizing, recruiting, and performing blood draws to support hospital-based blood supply needs. This position requires a high level of accuracy, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering safe and effective care to donors and patients.Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct donor screening and eligibility assessments in compliance with CDC, FDA, AABB, and CAP guidelines
- Perform whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures
- Collect appropriate specimens from donors and patients as needed
- Support blood collection at both fixed sites and mobile blood drives
- Accurately prepare, label, and document specimens for laboratory testing
- Maintain records, perform data entry, and track deferrals in accordance with quality standards
- Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors of inventory needs
- Ensure all work areas remain clean, safe, and organized
- Deliver exceptional service to donors, patients, staff, and visitors
- Assist with donor recruitment efforts and participate in departmental initiatives
- Follow all organizational policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations
- Basic computer skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in phlebotomy
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program or national certification
- Donor Phlebotomy Technician (DPT ASCP) or Qualification in Donor Phlebotomy (QDP ASCP) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with blood group/Rh typing and donation procedures
