Compensation: $59.52 per hour

Summary:

As a Physical Therapy Specialist, you will conduct gross motor developmental assessments and implement individualized developmental activities. You'll also provide vital parent education and training concerning developmental disabilities, fostering progress and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function independently to provide early intervention services to infants, toddlers, and their families.
  • Utilize a family-centered approach, integrating parent coaching into every session.
  • Evaluate five major developmental domains: cognitive, language, social, motor, and self-help skills.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments to identify and address neurological issues and create customized treatment plans.
  • Share developmental information at scheduled IEPs and IFSPs, establishing realistic goals and objectives.
  • Identify families in crisis and provide appropriate referrals for challenges such as domestic violence or substance abuse.
  • Act as a mandated reporter.
  • Provide in-service training for Hope Services staff and other external organizations as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and external agencies on developmental and health concerns.
  • Consult with other professionals, including occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance program efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy required, or a Master's Degree if grandfathered in, with current licensure.
  • One year of relevant experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Basic proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong observation, evaluation, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member while accepting supervision.
  • Knowledge of various disabilities and syndromes.
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills, along with sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with developmental activities for infants and toddlers.
  • Understanding of family dynamics and teamwork.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and task prioritization.

Work Conditions:

This role involves considerable travel primarily to client homes, with some office work. Expect lifting, moving, stretching, walking, and crawling during training activities. You may also encounter outdoor conditions and perform tasks requiring intense concentration.
