The Role

Key Accountabilities

Takes ownership and responsibility for complex claims whilst making decisions by evaluating the factors around a claim to determine the strategy and options for settlement and conclusion.

Uses strong judgement to assess when to escalate to management and demonstrates good understanding of Claims reserving and Actuarial reserving to manage the exposure of the business.

Maintains good data analysis & skills to enable sharing insight – understanding of excel /power BI reporting tools and is able to use data to identify wider trends to investigate and understand market impacts and exposure to Aspen.

Demonstrate awareness of data that identifies performance against key KPIs and champions team activities to ensure delivery.

Acts as a mentor providing a ‘bigger picture' mentorship and empowering the team to work independently. Demonstrates a Strong understanding of development framework and performance requirements for the roles they are responsible for.

Develops junior colleagues' by sharing knowledge or coaching them to learn skills, knowledge or capabilities.

Act as the key liaison for designated claims portfolio with internal stakeholders including Underwriters, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Actuarial.

Support regulatory and legislative adherence and embed required changes within the claim's portfolio.

Support the implementation of the group claims strategy to achieve business targets and KPIs through data and intelligence.

Develop and present recommendations to claims systems and processes to deliver first-class service to clients.

Foster strong relationships with brokers, third parties, and customers through multi-channel engagement.

Champion collaboration with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and implement initiatives.

Engage with the wider market and promote the Aspen brand and claims reputation.

Produce regular statistical and analytical claims information for effective monitoring.

Maintain sufficient knowledge of claims portfolio to provide excellent claims handling service and recommend improvements.

Support the global claims function in producing KPIs and management information reports.

Act as a referral point for other members of the global claims team.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

Comprehensive experience working in a Claims environment within a specialized/complex Claims Reinsurance Function.

Experience leading Claims Handlers and managing their workload and priorities.

Recognized qualification(s) and/or good practical knowledge of the insurance regulatory framework.

Strong commercial experience of the general insurance industry and claims trends to be able to provide expert advice and opinion where required.

Ability to navigate and assimilate complex technical data applications and sources strong investigative skills.

Attention to detail with a track record of delivering service excellence via detailed technical processes.

Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
