The successful applicant will help keep campus grounds in neat and orderly condition by performing assigned duties. Responsibilities include operating large power lawn mowers, edger, hand tools, and vehicles associated with grounds maintenance and landscaping activities. Additionally, the role involves operating and maintaining water sprinkler systems and time clocks, maintaining landscape and flower areas, removing debris from stairs and sidewalks, raking leaves, and keeping parking lots clean of garbage. General maintenance on equipment is required, and the position will work with the Facilities Maintenance Crew on preventative maintenance and work orders. Occasionally, on-call duties for snow plow removal and maintenance responsibilities may be required. Other duties will be assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum qualifications include availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from May 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022, and a minimum of 2 years running lawn equipment or something similar. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to adapt to changing conditions or work assignments, exceptional listening and communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple projects, excellent interpersonal abilities, cultural sensitivity, and an ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce in multicultural settings.
