Part-time, 16 Hours/WeekVariable Days Onsite: Akron Public Schools Summary:The Hygiene Assistant provides efficient assistance for the dentist and/or dental hygienist and individualized instruction and guidance to all Dental Clinic and School based patients. Responsibilities:

Provides efficient assistance for the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist and individualized instruction and guidance to all Dental Clinic or School based patients.

Demonstrates competent Hygiene Assistant responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and service to patients

Participates in the educational, safety and quality efforts of the Dental Practice and School Health

Other duties as required.

Other information:Technical Expertise

Experience as a chairside assistant in 4-handed dentistry is preferred.

Experience treating and teaching healthy and medically compromised patients is preferred.

Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.

Experience working with various levels within an organization is preferred.

Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is preferred.

Education and Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience is required. Associate's degree preferred.

Certification: Current certificate to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Years of relevant experience: Minimum 2 or more years of clinical experience in dental assisting preferred.

Years of experience supervising: None.
