This role requires flexibility, as hours are not guaranteed, and you will work as needed to provide respiratory care to patients, particularly throughout the holiday season. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with patients, families, healthcare team members, and physicians to deliver comprehensive respiratory care. - Assess patient needs and develop, implement, and evaluate personalized respiratory care plans. - Obtain and analyze physiologic specimens, interpret physiological data, and perform tests related to the cardiopulmonary system. - Administer and monitor medical gases and environmental controls, as well as mechanical ventilatory support and airway management. - Conduct bronchopulmonary hygiene and pharmacological therapy related to respiratory care. - Participate in patient and family education to promote understanding of disease processes and self-management strategies. - Maintain current knowledge of respiratory care practices and participate in the mentoring and orientation of new staff. - Document all care activities accurately in the medical record and ensure compliance with safety and departmental policies. Qualifications: - Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). - Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in your practicing state. - Previous acute care experience is preferred but not mandatory. Desired Skills and Attributes: - Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team. - Ability to assess and provide care with an understanding of physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs. - Commitment to promoting patient dignity and healing through compassionate care.
