Leadership & Strategy: Direct departmental operations, ensuring alignment with the organizations clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical standards. Establish and manage the HIM departments operational budget, goals, and objectives. Determine department structure and appropriate staffing levels; hire, train, and evaluate team members. Regulatory Compliance & Confidentiality: Implement and enforce policies to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of health information in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations. Oversee the appropriate release of patient information per legal requirements. Technology & Innovation: Identify, evaluate, and implement technologies and systems to improve records management, data retention, and overall HIM operations.
