Hours: Full-Time Position – 35 HoursWork Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101Only candidates who are permanent in the Assistant Civil Engineer title or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive lists (exam #1101 or exam #5015) may apply. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview.The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking Inspectors to join our Construction Management 5 – Brooklyn.Successful candidates will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and/or Resident Engineer and conduct technical inspections of construction, repair, and maintenance projects involving roadways, sewers, pavements, and sidewalks. Responsibilities include assessing grading, paving, and repaving streets, sewer connections, retaining walls, and maintenance of water, sewer, and utility manholes.Authorization to work in the United States is required. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not sponsor international employees. Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.

Preferred Skills

Note the following preferred skills for this position:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (roadway, sewer, water main)
  • Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of NYC infrastructure systems and current engineering practices
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license (required)
  • Personal vehicle (preferred)
  • 55a Program
